I suspect real but have not yet been able to confirm it. The lab refused to acknowledge the legitimacy of the report claiming client privacy.,I continue to work the issue.

ill stick with the dr tims powder and hikari biogold after these three massive bags or northfin are gone
in the malawi tank, sinking is okay. they eat from the surface of sand. in oscar tank, once the SD's miss it, it is gone in the rocks and i vacuum up.
i guess i just dont like sinking pellets unless its sand.
too expensive to waste

kmuda
is it worth a few drop of Boyds vitachem into the mix before freezing DR tims?

Won't hurt anything....but likely will not provide much benefit either.

I have not been able to confirm the authenticity of the reports but would consider them factual, enough so that I re-posted the original post on this site. At the same time, I am seeking to have my own studies accomplished, against more than Northfin. The issue at hand is going to be Krill and there is nothing unique about Northfin's Krill source.

This is something I have battled against from day 1 and it's discussed in detail in the Fish Food Ingredients article.
There are many mistruths associated with Ethoxyquin and product labeling. The law states that the ingredient list must contain Ethoxyquin if it is added to the food either directly or indirectly. This means that if the food manufacturer does not add Ethoxyquin directly but it is a functional component of the meal products used, then the label must state the existence of Ethoxyquin. However, based upon "Reminders" being sent out by the FDA, it would appear that many pet food manufacturers may be ignoring this rule. How this can be is a mystery. Any imported fish meals require specific labeling that includes the preservatives used and their concentration, otherwise it is not even allowed in the country. So fish food manufacturers, when they purchase the meal, have the information right in front of them. So they cannot claim it is "hidden". The truth of the matter, based upon numerous communications I've had with various fish food companies, is they claim they don't have to list ethoxyquin if it's not directly added to the food by them. That is not how I interpret the law, but clarification will be achieved.

ethoxyquin? I had to look it up. If this is not a good food to feed, then what is a good food to feed my fish?

I have south african cichlids and they love this food....

Everything you ever wanted or needed to know about Ethoxyquin can be found in the Ethoxyquin section of this document:

www.oscarfish.com/fish-food-ingredients.html

I cannot recommend any food at this moment. I am getting samples of various foods tested but at $85 per test, it's going to take a bit.

I would like to know why Northfin is being targeted with these tests. The results of the test are vastly unacceptable, duh. But I expect this to be the norm, not the exception. Always...... the Clancy in me....looking......

I'm going to second your question Kmuda.

hepatus why are you targeting Northfin over all the others?

Is there is a personal reason or did something happen to make you suspect it's not as good as it claims to be?
