How Many Clown Loaches

Postby Nes » Wed Sep 22, 2004 6:17 pm

How many adult clown loaches can live together in a 120 gallon tank if there are no other fish?

I would say about 12 once they reach a good size. You may be able to go with 15 if you have really good filtration. You may want to wait for a 2nd opinion since i've never kept them or resherched them much. with a tank this size you will prob have a 55 gallon sump with wet/dry filters also, if thats the case should be kind of easy.

I'd say about that many as well. But the problem is they grow to be 8" to a foot. But that takes close to 20 years. At that length 12 might be a bit much in that tank. However, realistically you're looking at them being no longer than 6" after the first 5 years.

But if I got another 6 now I could probably sell them pretty well at a foot long right?

I can't imagin that many cls :D

Yippee!!

I knew they were clean fishies, but 12+? sounds good :)

It will take forever to get to 12". They are expensive at that size though.

It's double fish wensday at the place I'm supposed to be handing in my resume today. It's an incentive for me to stop procrastinating and go :)

Yes I'd seen those - then turned the site upside down trying to figure out how many gallons that tank was :)

Those are Bob's loaches. I love Basil! He's huge. That's a 290 gal tank (8ft long). I haven't really been active at loaches.com lately, but I know he hasn't updated his website in a couple of years. Check it out here.

Here are the tank specs.
15 clowns and a lot more in there!
