So I am a cat owner...

There are some pets that dont have gills.

So I am a cat owner...

Postby Red O » Mon Jan 23, 2012 10:30 pm

I was waiting for my car tires to be installed so I left the shop and took a walk. Walked down a back ally ( if anyone knows Edmonton) 67th street and 121ave, and saw a box. This box was not snow covered , and i had to look in it. I got close to the box and it meowed. I opened it and there was a tiny black kitten. I knew i had to take it to the SPCA. They told me they are putting cats down daily and they cant take him. Took it to the vet, and they said they cant take it ether. But they said its about 8 weeks old, 1.3 pounds, and is very energetic and completely healthy and showing no sign of illness ! Gave him his 8 week vaccines, and his deworm pill and some other shot. So I think I am going to keep him

When I found him, I was at my mechanics and his name is Sam. So I named my little kitten Sam 8-)

Awesome....how could you say no to that face...really?

If you are looking for any cat food suggestions, I have a few, especially Orijen ( the very best ) and Acana ( also really good ) Plus being that you are in Alberta, they are a product of your province. IN any event be a label snob and w/ cats there is really not a good reason for the food to have any grain whatsoever. Look for a food that is 100% grain free,

Thanks. In this spontaneous action, i ran to walmart and bought everything. I have IAMS brand for now. But when I poured the food, he ate like he was starved. He played and explored , ate and drank and now is sleeping under the bed. I am going to leave him under there until he comes out because the little guy has been threw lots today .

Sorry, I won't go on much of a tangent and I know this subject has been covered in other threads but I would not consider any food made by Blue Buffalo a viable option for pets. While the Winderness brand has not killed any animals, its parent company brand ( Blue Buffalo ) certainly has. Wilderness itself has had some Q/A issues that led to dog get pretty darn sick. I just don't find Blue Buffalo a trustworthy manufacture based on their track record when so many other great options have not had such issues,

Your cat looks really cute, though I am not that much of a cat person, but still find them cute anyway.

I love guinea pigs and hamsters growing up which actually might be the root why I never cared to get cats as pets. I remember one time there was this neighbor's cat which actually munched on my guineas!

Could you imagine how much of a bummer that would have been for me! But my sisters had a lot so I shed a little light over it.

Sorry to hear about that.. You really get attached to these little creatures. And its amazing but in a way become a part of the family. So its always sad to see them go.

UPDATED

He is now 11 months old, I can almost see him growing when I stare at him  I feed him lots, but he still maintains a nice figure. Must be due to the fact he is out all night climbing trees and fences and outrunning wild animals . Hes got such a great personality. He likes to be held and cuddled and get attenion, but yet he is very independent .PIC

And then some.. I had to take him to the vet, because he got bit and they put him on the scale and he is 14.5lbs. And not fat  The little ~Violation of TOS~ is getting into fights everyday. Seems to win most of them, but comes home with missing fur and open cuts somedays I disinfect with HP. Has a couple scars on his face. He is a warrior

I never thought Id own a cat, but I love this guy. He sure has grown on me.

Two otherwise sane Ofish members suddenly acquire black cats. Superstitious yet? What will it take?

I highly doubt I'd be considered a sane ofish member.

My Spark Plug is now six months old. The cat is the equilivant of a spider monkey on crack. Constantly climbing walls and anything she can get too. She constantly irritates the Rottweiler too. Her mother (the Siamese) is doing well. She just hates everyone lol.

(Spark plug is the all black kitten I found when she was two weeks old abandoned)
Actually SP and her Mum where found two weeks or so after my 13?year old black cat passed away.

Creepy right?
Surviving and thriving are two VERY different things.
