Ok, did some re-thinking!

Postby stevenm1 » Thu Aug 26, 2010 8:43 pm

I would like to put 1 male Convict, and 5 rainbows(dither fish not the cichlids, 3-5 inches) in my 29 gallon. Would that be Ok? My 55 gallon I would like to change to 1 Firemouth, 1 Decorus Catfish(6inches), and some dither fish (would like help on that, hopefully about 6), would that be Ok. Let me know your thoughts on both tanks! Thanks as always

Your stocking ideas sound fine for both tanks. I see no issues.
100g- Red Oscar Fish, Male Convict, 3 SDs - 20 gallon sump
55g - 21 Year Old Kissing Gourami + friends
55g - Angelfish - 29g Livebearer Community
4 Cats, 2 Shelties, 1 wife, 1 old lady, and one of the sub-adults broke back in.

I think the rainbows would do better in the 55g. I have 5-6 in a 30g tank, and although they are doing ok, I can tell they would appreciate the extra space. Not to mention I've kept juvenile cichlids in the 30g with the rainbows, and a lot of the cichlids picked on the rainbows. Not sure if they resemble a cichlid more than the tetras or what, but a male convict might be a rough tank mate for rainbows. Especially since they can be so spendy.

I would do the Firemouth, the Synodontis Decorus, and a large group of rainbows in the 55g. - That would be awesome.

And in the 30g, I would do the Convict, and a group of 6-7 tiger barbs. The tiger barbs will be quicker and more hardy than the rainbows.

I will be buying a camera soon, and after that I have to figure out how to get them onto my computer, then on to the site. Thanks for the interest!

You can usually get them onto you computer by way of a USB cable.
Here's a tutorial on getting them onto the interweb so we can see them:
