Picture Posting Tutorial *UPDATED*

Postby wow_it_esploded » Mon Aug 25, 2008 12:13 am

I made this just to update the current/stickied one because that one was old and I felt that it needed to be redone (no offense)

Find a picture that you would like to post
Image

Visit Photobucket (if you do not have an account, it is free and a great site)
Image

Go to your album
Image

Choose what size you want the image[s] automatically resized to (640x480 is good for posting on websites)
Image

Press the "Choose Files" link
Image

Choose your image's/movies
Image

After you press ok it will start uploading
Image

It will refresh the page and the image will be present in your album
Image

Find the Img Code
Image

Click into the box to copy the contents
Image

Now, go to wherever you are going to post the image
Image

Make a new topic (or post in current one)
Image

Give a title and description
Image

Image

Paste the IMG code
Image

Look over your topic or post
Image

Hit Submit

*sigh* it is the same exact procedure but it looks VERY slightly different.

As in:
the mouse is a different color
the icons for the image on the desktop are different
the right click menus look a little different

Though, if you wanted to ask that question, then why not ask "What about ubuntu users?" also.

No he wasn't, his point is that to install and successfully use ubuntu (or any other linux distribution really) to it's full potential you must be computer literate enough to at least post pictures from photobucket.

The software available to mac and other "nix" (unix, aka mac, and linux) OSes do make it pretty easy to do stuff. Oh, and get stuff done without a lot of the hassle... I guess that makes us mac users idiots. :angry3:

Though I can tell you, when I use my windows computer everything feels so retarded. It takes me a few hours on a project that would take me maybe an hour on my mac book pro.

Though, lets try to avoid a mac vs pc vs linux vs other oses debate and stay on topic.

You don't plan on reorganizing your photobucket account anytime soon. I mean manage to delete every single last picture you had ever uploaded  Every time i look at your older threads the pictures are gone.

Masey, if you look properly it says that the image has either been deleted or moved. So basically, I just have to relink everything

Sweet, except for the fact that the image is not their, it does not matter where they went. Why did you mess with them if you have already uploaded them?

So if i were to look at an older image and it said the image was moved or deleted, why would i guess it was moved. I have never seen anyone organize a photobucket account... I don't know, i think its just bizarre.

I did not expect you to guess, I expected you to leave for consideration ;)

Honestly, I might just move it all back so I do not have to relink anything as I am too lazy and moving everything back would be easier. Much, much easier

Not really... you can boot Ubuntu from a CD on your Windows machine... takes, literally, three seconds.

Please tell me this isn't going to end up being an operating system argument :) It's the Mac vs. PC vs Linux thing all over again

Yes, but most people would not run the computer normally off of the live CD because you cannot save anything so moving pics from your camera to the computer would be pointless because they would get deleted when you rebooted.

Also, there are some people who's bios on the computer is set to boot straight to HD-0 instead of checking the cd drive first, so they would have to know how to change the bios first before they could boot off of a cd. If they can change the bios and still have their computer function properly then they are probably good enough to post pics.

Though, just to ease everyones "pain", if anyone needs training on posting pictures on their operating system, I will take the time to write another tutorial, especially for them.
