40 Breeder (updated/pics)

Postby HopeEliz » Tue Jan 31, 2012 8:04 pm

Jon has been posting his saltwater tank, so I decided to post some pictures of my freshwater, since I re-scaped it a few days ago. Still needs some more plants and rocks so it's not finished yet.

Current inhabitants are 1x Gold Marble Angelfish that I rescued from the LFS. She was in slightly bad shape.. ich, shredded fins, and a scar on her lip. She has recovered nicely though :).
I plan on getting at least 1 more Angel.

Also in the tank are 8x Rosy Red Minnows, that I used to cycle the tank (took about 2 months),
and 12x Albino Tiger Barbs that I recently bought from Walmart. Walmart fish usually look awful and unhealthy,
but they must have gotten new stock in all the tanks because when I got these guys, all the fish were active, and none looked sick. They were also on sale for under $2. I have read they are fin nippers, but they actually pay no attention to the Angel at all... they actually school with the minnows and keep the nipping within the school.

When the scape is finished and the rocks/plants extend to the left and right side of the tank it's going to look awesome. Specially if the HOB intake gets covered and the heater is decently covered with the long leafy plant.

Got the plants... still need a taller one for the right side corner, otherwise I think it is looking pretty good. The fish seem to like it more as well, since they seem more active and love to race through the plants.

It was nicely packaged:
