Outside of an Oscar Tank (or tank containing largely potentially destructive fish), Eheim Jager Heaters are my heater of recommendation.

Re: Eheim Jager Heater Review
I have two E Jager heaters as well. Contemplating replacing my other heaters that are getting old with new Jagers as well. So far, a good replacement for the stealths. Granted they are not shatter proof, but they also do not explode.

I'm also slowly replacing my stealth heaters with the Jagers. I like them a lot so far. Definitely recommend them, but I dont' have one in with my O.

Re: Eheim Jager Heater Review
I received an email today from Eheim informing me that me that Jager Heaters are Made In Germany. The review has been updated to reflect this. Another reason to consider these heaters.
I guess with the Chinese destruction of Marineland quality, this is something companies are sensitive about. Good.

Re: Eheim Jager Heater Review
I purchased a Jager 300watt when I set up my latest Oscar tank which is 850 litres.
These heaters can handle large volumes of water (about 900 if I remember right), whereas other brands of 300watt heater are only good for around 300 litres. I have ZERO issues with this heater apart from Oscars smashing it to bits.
I immediately bought another one and also invested around $6 in 2 heater protectors. These plastic cages shield the heater from those destructive brutes yet still let it function as normal.
The reason I bought 2 cages was because of the length the 300watt Jager is, the protector was modular with interlocking sections so ti took 1 and a half packs to protect my heater. Probably only recommended for tanks 24inches tall and above, mine is 30inches tall and the heater takes up a fair amount of space on the glass.
