Haven't tried it yet. I want to put Bo on it to see if he gets any brighter. Right now he is a orange/yellow. I'll do before and after pics.

Early May:

Late July:

Granted, some of this can be attributed to camera angles or mood, but not all of it. This fish wasn't purchased because of his looks. In the store he appeared pale & skinny. I admired how he was keeping a humongous Knifefish and Plec0 out of his space (approximately 90% of the tank
). Most days he has Ken's Freeze Dried Krill Superba for lunch (I always soak it in tankwater first), and Omega One pellets for dinner. He likes the pellets; he'll take your arm out of its socket for the krill.

Actually, I'd bet that this is a male. I see your point 1oscar - spangling on the lower portion of the jaw- but the spangling is pretty uniform dots and spots. Females really tend to have strong spangling in random splotches or a solid colored jaw. This method of sexing is usually pretty solid, but there are gray areas. I'd say this is one of those and throw my hat in the circle going Male. I could be wrong though, often am. (In the words of Finis55)
