Since the site review was performed by Rush, thought I would add my 2cents worth.

My primary problem with the Cascade Canisters is bypass, a problem that is likely more prevalent with these canisters than any other. That said, they are a functional, reliable filter and they do get the job done. So if cost is a primary concern, they are worthy of a look.

I've never had a restart problem with my Cascade, which is more that I can say about Fluvals.

I've never had a leak issue with my Cascade, which is more than I can say about my C-360 (although that issue has been resolved).

But at a retail cost of around $149 (for a Cascade 1500), I can pick up a C-360 or Eheim 2217 at the same cost, and would go in that direction. But if you find a Cascade at a good cost, they are worthy of a look.

I do believe I'll be going with the Cascade 1000 in the short future for filtration on my 55 gallon. I've read many good things about them on internet reviews and I believe I'll be able to stick with the same unit when I do my 90 gallon upgrade saving me money in the future on my upgrade. :lthumb:

Kmuda your bypass issues are boring  ....Make no mistake, I love ya man, but fact are facts :D ....If properly cared for and maintained the 1500 series is a fine filter. The fact they no longer make replacement parts for this series in essence makes this thread a moot topic...But, I have five 1500's on the 180gallon, and sir the facts are I have had little issue, moreover, great water chemistry results from using them.

Other then building a sump, when they give out I will most likely buy Eheim, but, until then I will stick with my Cascades...Bypass will result from poor maintenance with any given product, but, that is JMO, many may have others...that is OK by me.

The lack of replacement parts is a huge issue for me. And the bypass was more of an issue than I knew before I replaced them. My water clarity was good before (Ithought) but when I replaced the 2 1500's with the C-530 and the 2 C-350's the difference was evident.

What? My water is crystal clear...What difference have you noticed? Then again I haven't had any other products on the 180 then the Cascades, which maybe a moot point (please see the BST post) I guess I never considered them junk...But then again besides Fluval POS's I have never explored anything else...Wow that was about as redundant as anyone would want to be
