I wrote the site review, but I cannot stop myself. These filters SUCK. Run from them.

I quote this thread: viewtopic.php/f,5/t,81860

Kmuda wrote:I've said this about something else in the past, but it applies here.

There is a theory concerning the big bang, in that the big bang was actually the collapse of another universe and that collapse ruptured a microscopic pin prick in our universe, at which point the entirity of the collapsing universe was sucked through that pin prick into our universe.

That level of sucking may, almost, be comparible to how much Fluval sucks.

I have had a 404 for years and never had a problem with it restarting i have had to replace the impeller once only becuse i broke it while cleaning it.
i am going to by a 405 for a 100.00 they are on sale becuse the 06 ones are coming out after christmas.
I think they are great.

My first canister was a 405.
It does it's job, I'll give it that.
I've found there are other filters for comparable prices that:
a) hold more media
b) have better flow rates

It is also the loudest of my 3 canisters. :|

I voted "If you can get it cheap, it's worth it", but would change it to "This product has its use, but there are better" if I could.

I have a 305 and a 405 and to be honest i dont have any problems with them. They seem to keep the tank clean and clear. I've had the ehimes before and the Fluvals seem easier to work with. Just my opinion. I like em. :)
