Here another local variant of ocellatus from Columbia.

Right know are some avaible here in Germany, the juvis are almost green.
We need to stop talking about the people as if they were the crown of creation.

What for me seems clear that we have major differences in body shape. The Peru variant has the traditionel Oscar body, much more stout. The bahia reds and the variants i saw are for this mostly more in hight but way slimmer. Also it seems the head and jaw part is way thicker as on the Peru Oscars.
Crassipinnis at the other side is something by its own while he grows larger as ocellatus he has the thicker lips and jaw as the bahias and rubroocellatus.

The genus Astronotus seems to be still a mess.
